Dataphyte, Africa’s leading insights and data access organisation, will showcase its AI-powered products at DataFestAfrica’s conference which takes place from the 17th to 19th of October in Lagos, Nigeria.

Being a foremost community of data practitioners and enthusiasts in Africa, the organisers centered the conference on “AI-Enabled Transformation: Shaping the Future Together” with key players in the data space.

Ibilolia Daniel, Dataphyte’s Business Development Lead, and Kunle Adelowo, Tech Development Lead will share the organisation’s approach to democratising Africa’s data ecosystem.

Dataphyte’s research, analysis, and technological resources empower journalists, researchers, civil society organisations, NGOs, and citizens in enhancing insights. Conference attendees will participate in hands-on sessions and explore data-driven developments, socio-economic change, and digital innovations across the continent.

In five years, Dataphyte has leveraged the power of data to develop several AI products, such as Nubia, an open-source AI tool that provides data-driven stories for journalists, and Goloka, a digital platform that collects, labels, and gathers diverse and dispersed datasets to help government, businesses and civil society organisations in making informed decisions.

According to Femi Amele, Dataphyte’s Programme Director, “Our AI tools bridge the gap, democratising data analysis and visualization capabilities. Users can generate insightful reports using public data, regardless of technical expertise.”

Mr. Amele stated that the Goloka platform deployment is enhanced through the collaboration of a network of data contributors who operate at the grassroots level in hyperlocal communities, and offer primary data collection services. “Our commitment is to enhance data validation and precision with the aid of geospatial technology building the development and media ecosystem,” he said.

Ibilolia Daniel noted, “We’ve developed technology for seamless data collection, insights generation, and analysis. At DataFestAfrica, we will demonstrate AI technology built as a solution for development across Africa and the international market. Attendees will experience hands-on demonstrations of our services and explore how our AI tools like Goloka and Nubia transform data collection and reporting.”
